Pipeline Leak Detection

Description GasHoundTM pipeline sniffer system – Designed to fit on the front of a truck or ATV, the GH*100 has extraordinary sensitivity to quickly detect minute amounts of methane, ethane, propane and/or hydrogen. The top left image shows an installation for road testing in Monroeville. A PC based controller inside the cab runs Millennia/GH software on a secure Linux operating system. It continuously monitors one or more GH100 units and displays the readings inside the cab graphically in an alarm log spread sheet. The screen shown (bottom image) is a map showing locations of upscale readings along a prescribed route, this requires an internet connection. A Millennia data logging utility writes the data to a solid state memory, along with date and time stamps. This data can be removed at end of day and placed on office based PC running Rel-Tek’s Millennia/GH software for off-line analysis and archiving. The high-resolution detection range is 0-5,000 ppm CH4, made possible by the accompanying MagiKal automatic calibration utility that tweaks the sensor calibration with NIST certified zero and span gases every day, or anytime, on command. A custom power supply and battery isolates the computer and sensor electronics from the vehicle to avoid interferences or irregularities from the vehicle. Typical monitoring ground speed is 10-20 MPH. The sensor is weather proof, sealed against water and dirt intrusion. However, other means of deployment provide a protective cage, as well as water and dirt deflectors. A gas extraction means of gas sampling is also available. The high resolution GasBoss/HR gas sensor is approved Intrinsically Safe, NFPA-70, Class I, Div 1, Group D, when fitted with an optional Intrinsic Safety barrier.
